SAMPLE LETTER

Dear members of the House Science, Technology and Energy Committee,

I do not support the Repeal of the Renewable Portfolio Standard. It has been a significant factor in the development of all Alternative, Renewable Energy sources in NH including Biomass, Solar and Wind. These technologies are providing significant ongoing economic benefits to NH. The RPS enables RECs which are sold each year by system owners because they have generated energy using renewable sources. RPS also enables grants and rebates that support private investment. Renewable Energy such as Biomass keeps our money spent on energy in NH!

The Repeal of RPS that has given companies and customers who grant funding, rebates and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) would come to an end in 2017.

RECs make the price of wood pellets (many thousands of tons manufactured in NH each year from locally harvested wood) drop to the equivalent of $1.51 per gallon of oil. RECs make the price of dry wood chips drop to the equivalent of 80 cents per gallon of oil.

Local biomass energy companies are employing hundreds of people in New Hampshire both directly and indirectly. These have created many good jobs that also support NH businesses.

Sincerely,

Your Name
