About The Event

TAKE ACTION IN SEP, OCT & NOV TO SUPPORT NH OFFSHORE WIND!

You’ve supported bringing wind power off the coast of NH. In order to move Offshore Wind to the next step, Gov. Sununu has to ask for a task force from the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to investigate the feasibility of developing offshore wind.

Despite the fact that 21 towns/cities have passed resolutions asking him for the task force, he has not done so, even though on the radio show “The Exchange” he said he would if NH residents clearly wanted it. So we’ve got to make it even more clear that 21 resolutions.

We are asking you to CALL GOV. SUNUNU on the same day of the month until the election in November and ask for the offshore wind task force. We are writing to many of you in hopes that he gets at least 2 phone calls a day from 2 different people.

Please call Gov. Sununu at (603) 271-2121 on the day of the month that corresponds with your name. So if your name starts with A call on the first of the month, if your name starts with B can on the second of the month, and so on. Feel free to throw in an extra call or two for good measure. Please set a calendar reminder so you don’t forget. You can vary your script – in fact, it has more impact if you do. Below are some sample scripts.

🔹SCRIPT 1

Hi, my name is ___ and I’m a constituent from____. Back in 2014, a NH legislative study identified offshore wind as one of the best renewable options for the state. But nothing has been done about it, so I’m calling to ask the governor to take the next step- which is to ask for a task force from the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, which will investigate the feasibility of offshore wind. Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island already have these task forces. In the mean time, we see lots of energy dollars leave our state to pay for fossil fuels. We could keep more of that money local if we had offshore wind.

🔹SCRIPT 2

Hi, my name is ___ and I’m a constituent from____. I am calling to ask the governor to appoint a task force from the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to investigate the feasibility of developing offshore wind power in our state. New Hampshire, under your administration, would benefit from increased job opportunities, new economic development, and reliable clean energy for our homes and businesses.

🔹SCRIPT 3

Hello, I’m ____ and I’m a constituent from ____. I am concerned about NH’s reliance of energy sources from out of the state. For example, about 60% of our electricity is generated from burning natural gas. NH doesn’t have any natural gas. We get it from other states or even other countries. It is not prudent to rely so much on just one source. We should diversify. Specifically The Federal Department of Energy has determined that there is a great deal of wind power capacity off our small coast. So I am asking the governor to ask for a task force from BOEM to investigate the feasibility of offshore wind.
