Doris “Granny D” Haddock is fondly remembered for walking across the country -- 3,200 miles! -- to bring attention to the need for campaign finance reform. She walked from Los Angeles to Washington, DC: starting in January 1999, when she was 88 years old, and finishing in February 2000, when she was 90. She lived in Dublin, NH and died in March 2010, at age 100. She founded Open Democracy. Our "NH Rebellion" walks continue her legacy.

According to her friend and biographer Dennis Burke, "The important thing Doris Haddock would have you remember was that she was no more special than you, and that you have the identical power and the responsibility to make a difference in the community and the world."
